for a source for some plant?
Other inquiries.
To request a print copy of the catalog:
You can view the entire catalog on-line, and may
e-mail us to obtain a free print copy of the 2021 catalog. Just send your NAME
and STREET or P.O. BOX ADDRESS to us, and please tell us how you found this
site.
NOTE: The "(at)" above should be
typed in as "@" - we list our e-mail address this way to help reduce
the amount of spam we get - spammers harvest e-mail addresses from websites, and
then send spam, or worse yet, forge our address and send spam using our address!
Please use "Catalog" as your subject line in the e-mail - otherwise it
may be deleted by our spam-blocker.
PLEASE NOTE: If you put your name and address all on one line this can lead to
confusion:
John Smith 1234 - 44th Street West Elmwood NE 55555
So is this guy on 44th Street West in Elmwood, or on
44th Street in West Elmwood? Please give us a break
and send your address like this:
John Smith
1234 - 44th Street West
Elmwood, NE 55555
PLEASE NOTE: We actually do need your STREET ADDRESS or P.O. BOX to send a
catalog. The U.S. Postal Service still does not deliver print catalogs to e-mail
addresses! (Those Luddites!) You wouldn't believe how many e-mails we get that
just say, "Hi, send me your catalog!"
If you are in the US, Canada, or México, we will send you a free copy of our
print catalog, and you may request seeds at your leisure. Outside
the US, Canada and México, please use the on-line catalog for your first
request, and we will send you a free copy with your request. Or, request a copy
for US$5.00 - overseas postage is very expensive.
To subscribe to our Special Offers e-mail list:
Just send me an e-mail asking to be put on this list.
This is a list that will be notified whenever we have new items received too late to include in the catalog or supplement, new perishable items, and when the new catalog or supplement has been uploaded to the website, or other important news that may come up. I hate spam as much as you, so this list is used sparingly, only a few times a year.

some plant?
Go to:
http://plantinfo.umn.edu/
This is the best database of plant sources we know of - 109,392 different plants sourced to 1096 North American nurseries! We regret that because of the volume of e-mail received, we are no longer able to answer "Where can I get...?" inquiries. Please use the site above. Thanks!

BEFORE YOU E-MAIL US, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We really do like to help people, BUT:
BECAUSE OF THE VOLUME OF E-MAIL RECEIVED IT IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO
ANSWER THEM ALL. WE ASK YOUR HELP:
We receive thousands of e-mails, and the majority are asking questions that are
already answered on our web-pages - "Do you carry such and such?" (If
we have it, it is listed on the website! A site search
engine is on every page.) - "Are the seeds I want to order in
stock?" (We have a special "Out-of-Stock"
page that is updated every few days, and every item that is out of stock has
"Out of stock" right next to the price!) - "How
do I sprout such-and-such?" - "How much is the cost per
packet?" - "How much is postage
and packing?" - "What is the total for my order?" (Please
don't ask us to confirm in-stock status and send you a total for your order
unless you are outside the US and Canada and are ordering bulk amounts so the
postage is problematic! All prices are right on the website, and postage and
packing charts, and this type of request really uses up scarce time resources.)
All of this information is already on the website. We spend many hours doing our
best to have complete information that is easily found on our website, and we
just ask that you take a few minutes to see if your question can be answered
there before you e-mail us. We really, really do need to reduce the number of
unnecessary e-mails that we receive. Plus you will get your answer in minutes,
rather than days!
Please use the internet to answer your gardening questions, and join Dave's
Garden - a wonderful site by and for gardeners, with thousands of members
who can give you advice on many gardening questions.
If you do actually need to e-mail us, please note:
WE ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY DO NOT ANSWER ANY E-MAIL THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE YOUR
FULL NAME AND MAILING ADDRESS!
Why? Because this information is often essential to giving you a useful
answer.
Please remember that we are a seed bank, not a commercial seed company, and we
do not have a large staff - we try to answer all e-mails, but sometimes there
just aren't enough hours in the day. We have pages giving full information on how
to order on-line or by mail, postage
and packing rates, etc. Many of your questions can be answered in a few
minutes browsing our site, rather than waiting a day or two for us to answer an
e-mail question.
"My garden is in (Colorado, Florida, Mongolia, Egypt). Will such-and-such
grow well in my area?" Well, I've never gardened in Colorado, Florida,
Mongolia, or Egypt, so this kind of question is difficult to answer. A local
nurseryman who is familiar with local conditions would be a better person to
ask. Support your local independent nurseryman!
And questions like "I've got (a rocky, south-facing slope at 6000 feet in
the Cascades, a wet clay soil in Pennsylvania, a date-palm oasis in the Sahara).
What should I grow here that will give lots of color with no care?" just
aren't the kind of thing we can answer. Worse yet, "Will such-and-such grow
in my area?" with no address given! I'm starting to pull my hair out...
"Is the flower white or cream?" "Is the flower crimson or
vermilion?" "Is the scent sweet or like perfume?" "Does it
have a good flavor?"—Somebody call the guys with the strait-jackets,
because I'm headed over the edge! I really do like to help people when I can,
but there are some things I just can't answer...
For sold-out items, we have a special page that lists them and is updated every
few days: Out of Stock Please check here rather
than e-mailing us your list asking for confirmation that everything is in stock.
You will have your answer in moments, rather than days.
Please use an accurate subject line for your e-mail. E-mails with blank subject
lines, or that just say "Hi", or "Inquiry" may be deleted by
our ISP's spam-blocker, and we won't even get them! Many people don't seem to
know that e-mails with the subject line "Hi" are usually spam!
PLEASE USE THE SEARCH ENGINE (found at the top of each seedlist page) before
writing us to ask "Do you carry such-and-such?" This type of inquiry
wastes valuable time resources - please actually check on the site before
asking! It is easy, and saves time for everyone - you will get your answer in
minutes, rather than days. If you still can't find what you are looking for, of
course we are always glad to help out.
PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT CHECK E-MAIL EVERY DAY!
Please do not inquire as to whether we have shipped your request until at
least 30 days after you mail it. Current backlog status -
none. We can either fill requests promptly, or spend our time answering
e-mails! Most people receive their requests 1 - 2 weeks after they send the
request to us, depending on how far away you live and the speed of the mails,
but this can be slower. In rare cases your letter can take 2 weeks to reach us,
and another week or two for your request to reach you.
Outside of the U.S. parcels are frequently delayed in customs or agricultural
inspection.
SORRY, NO TELEPHONE!
I HAVE NO BUSINESS OR PERSONAL TELEPHONE. Please do not call anyone
named Hudson who is listed in the La Honda directory, as you will only disturb
someone not connected with me. I do my web work off-site as we are off the grid.
"If your 'phone doesn't ring, its
me!"—J.L.H.
SORRY, WE ARE NOT SET UP TO RECEIVE VISITORS.
