Nice collection of photos: www.aroid.org/genera/speciespage.php?genus=amorphophallus&species=lewallei
This rare species is from open grasslands in Burundi, in tropical Africa west of
the Congo. Cup-like spathe with curled lip attractively mottled with maroon, and
a lime-green to white knobbly spadix. This species also doesn't have the typical
carrion-scent common to Amorphophallus. The spectacular flowers are 16 -
40" long, and appear along with the leaf, and the stem elongates as fruits ripen to red. Leaf to 3 feet tall, divided. Best in
rich soil with warmth when growing, rest dry after they go dormant.
